RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WGNS) – Rutherford County’s new transfer station has wrapped up a highly successful first month of operation, processing 7,965 tons of solid waste and generating $653,797 in tipping fees for July. Of that amount, $66,616 will support the ongoing operations of the Solid Waste Department.
The new facility, located at 6000 Landfill Road in Murfreesboro, is helping reduce the environmental burden on the local landfill by redirecting nearly 400 tons of solid waste per day. Customers now benefit from an average turnaround time under 15 minutes, smoother access via newly paved roads, and reduced wear on tires and equipment.
