SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Police Department said there have been eight confirmed cases of parvovirus in dogs within the city.
Veterinarian at Camilus Animal Clinic Dr. Tessa Green described it as an aggressive virus that attacks bone marrow, lymph nodes and the gastrointestinal system. She said it’s spread through feces and vomit and is extremely contagious.
Dr. Green said it has a high mortality rate. Dog owners should try to catch the disease in their dogs as soon as possible. Symptoms of the disease include diarrhea, vomiting, bloody feces and lethargy. Green said any of these symptoms can be the first sign of parvo…
