SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Avera Integrated Services Center has everything from a pharmacy to a warehouse. The building’s construction was completed earlier this year, and by last month, most departments had moved into the space.
“These were all departments that were scattered throughout, mostly Sioux Falls, that we brought together in one building,” said Melissa Goff, vice president of pharmacy at Avera. “The main purpose for that was increased efficiencies, shared staffing, medication procurement in a more efficient manner and delivery.”

One highlight in the building is the medication compounding room, where there are sterile spaces to mix medicines, including IVs. The next room over is the mail-order room, where a robot puts pills into bottles and sends them down a conveyor belt. But the building isn’t only for employees.
“We do have the ability for patients to come to this facility and pick up their prescriptions. We still have a front door, desk, reception area. We have three rooms where patients can get education and consultation. We can even do immunizations in this space as well,” said Goff…
