City begins demolishing Keehi Lagoon Park comfort station

HONOLULU (Island News) – The comfort station at Keehi Lagoon park is coming down.

The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction, in collaboration with the Department of Parks and Recreation, began demolishing the restroom area on Monday, August 4, 2025.

The facility, located at 465 Lagoon Drive, has been in disrepair since vandals damaged the area in 2016, posing safety concerns. Crews are expected to completely take the station down by mid-October. They will then continue with restoring the site after.

The playground near the construction zone will also be closed for safety reasons. Park visitors should expect noise and dust and are advised to avoid the area and follow posted signs…
