Purple honey is a rarity, and experts say the only place bees make this special honey is in the Sandhills of North Carolina. A beekeeper near Fayetteville recently found one one of his hives producing the plum-colored elixir.

Jim Hartman was inspecting some of his 71 beehives when he came across the rare find. Along with his wife, Christi, they run the Secret Garden Bees in Cumberland County.
