First-time developer buys site in Alger Heights for accessible project

A first-time developer has closed on the purchase of a property in southeast Grand Rapids where he plans to break ground next year on a 20-unit mixed-use project.

Gabriel Grant, a disabled car accident survivor and founder and CEO of the home health care services company Care Granted, closed on the purchase of 800-806 Burton St. SE in Grand Rapids’ Alger Heights neighborhood on July 30 from sellers Ken and Donna Blessing. The sale price was $550,000.

Supported by $190,000 from the city’s emerging developer grant program, Grant plans to demolish an existing 10,000-square-foot structure on the site, which dates to 1941 and was added onto in 1983, according to city property records…
