A man in his mid-30s is in stable condition after an attempted burglary led to gunfire on Jacksonville’s Westside, authorities report. News4Jax detailed that the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident shortly yesterday afternoon on Cahoon Road South, where they were greeted by a homeowner reporting a break-in and subsequent shooting.
Shortly thereafter, a man appeared at a local urgent care bearing a gunshot wound to the chest. He was subsequently transferred to a hospital by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, who according to First Coast News, confirmed the man’s stable condition. As the circumstances surrounding the shooting are probed, it remains uncertain if the homeowner will face charges, with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office continuing their investigation.
