NORRISTOWN — A Berks County man was taken into custody after he failed to appear for bail revocation and sentencing hearings on charges he illegally possessed a firearm in Upper Hanover Township.
Richard Birkmire, 40, of the 600 block of Main Street, Bally, was apprehended by authorities on Tuesday and transported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on a bench warrant, issued last month, by Judge William R. Carpenter for failure to appear. The circumstances surrounding Birkmire’s apprehension were not revealed in court.
But on Wednesday, Birkmire appeared via a video link from the Lower Providence jail for a hearing at which Carpenter revoked Birkmire’s previous bail and ordered he be held in jail without bail pending sentencing on the gun charge later this month…
