Unpaid tickets and skipped court dates catch up with driver with suspended license

A woman was arrested after an officer discovered 18 violations on her license, which was suspended at the time he stopped her.

An officer observed a white Ford SUV traveling south in the area of U.S. 301 and Kentucky Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Its temporary tag was not properly attached and flapped in the wind. A check of the tag revealed the registered owner, 27-year-old Riqueya Perez of Ocala, had an ID only card.

The officer stopped the vehicle and explained the violations to Perez. He also asked Perez for her driver’s license, which he knew was suspended, the report said.

Indeed, a check of her driving history revealed 18 suspensions, cancellations and revocations of her license dating from Jan. 24, 2022, through Feb. 29, 2024. These included failures to pay traffic fines, habitual traffic offender violations, financial responsibilities and failures to appear, the report said…
