Suspect in Escambia County chase on U.S. 29 identified

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A man who led Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a chase through Escambia County Wednesday has been identified.

According to the FHP, Tavares Shaquillee Amel Moses, 29, of Pensacola, was arrested and charged with two counts of attempting to flee/elude and resisting an officer, as well as a number of traffic violations.

At about 3 p.m. Wednesday, a trooper reportedly saw Moses speeding on US 29 north of Nine Mile Road in Escambia County and attempted to stop him.

When the officer turned on his lights, Moses slowed down as if to stop, but then allegedly sped up in an attempt to get away.

At times, Moses reportedly reached speeds of 96 mph before losing control as he tried to pass some cars on a curve. When the car crashed, Moses allegedly fled on foot, but officers tased and subdued him…
