Improvements planned for low clearance bridge repeatedly struck by trucks

SPANISH LAKE, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Erica George has a front-row seat to a troubled overpass in Spanish Lake. Her house faces a low-clearance Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad bridge, which has repeatedly been hit by trucks that are too tall.

“You’ll just hear boom. And sometimes it’ll shake my, shake my house as well.”

A truck struck the overpass on July 31, the second time in the month. The road was closed for several days until the bridge was inspected and deemed safe…
