Goose Creek man pleads guilty in North Charleston corruption case

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – A Goose Creek man faces a maximum of 20 years in federal prison in connection with the federal corruption investigation involving a North Charleston city councilmember.

Hason Tatorian “Tory” Fields, 51, had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bribery with respect to programs receiving federal funds and honest services wire fraud, bribery with respect to programs receiving federal funds and honest services wire fraud.

The United States Department of Justice obtained evidence in the investigation, which revealed that Fields conspired with others to pay bribes to Sandino Moses, who was serving as a member of the City of North Charleston’s City Council representing District 7, according to U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesperson Veronica Hill.

Fields paid Moses two birbes as part of an effort to secure his support for the rezoning of the Baker Hospital site. It was later revealed that the application for the rezoning was pending before the City Council when Fields first approached Moses…
