MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – The Mount Pleasant Police Department may enforce harsher punishments amid growing safety concerns with e-bikes.
According to MPPD, in the year to date e-bike enforcement statistics for July 2025, they had 38 incidents reports and 13 collisions. Also, they have given out 12 citations and 44 warnings all involving e-bikes. Parents including Angela Dyer told News 2, they have seen near-miss crashes in their neighborhoods every day as kids are not following the rules of the road.
“They will go right across, usually doing wheelies, right in front of my house and cars are having to slam on their brakes,” Dyer said. “I’ve witnessed almost every day a child almost getting hit by one. It’s a miracle at this point nothing has happened.”…
