Chattanooga launches ‘Back to School Blitz’ to boost student safety and pride

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn — Though they’re not students or staff, members of Chattanooga’s Public Works Department are in ‘back to school’ mode these days.

That agency has announced the “Back to School Blitz,” an initiative aimed at enhancing student safety and community pride as the new school year approaches. A release says this comprehensive effort focuses on improving school zones across the city.

Crews are engaged in several critical tasks, including road and sidewalk maintenance, crosswalk and traffic marking refresh, traffic signal and sign inspections, stormwater infrastructure checks, and waste management and cleanup.
