Mexican National Arrested on Illegal Re-Entry Charge in Ripley

A traffic stop in Ripley on Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a Mexican citizen and national who had been deported from the United States more than a decade ago. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo says 31-year-old Jose Roberto Perez-Solis has been charged with re-entry of a removed alien, which was the result of an investigation by the U.S. Border Patrol.

According to prosecutors, Border Patrol agents encountered a vehicle in Ripley where Perez-Solis was one of the occupants. Perez-Solis had been previously ordered removed from the United States and was deported to Mexico in 2012 and did not have permission to return. Perez-Solis made an initial appearance before a U.S. magistrate judge and was detained. If convicted, he faces up to two years in federal prison…
