KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Following the announcement from Sen. Marsha Blackburn that she will seek to become Tennessee’s first female governor, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs is set to join her campaign support staff.
Jacobs will serve as her campaign treasurer. He will be tasked with overseeing all financial activities of the gubernatorial campaign such as monitoring contributions and ensuring compliance with all campaign financial disclosure laws.

The former wrestling star was first elected as Knox County mayor in 2018 and won re-election to a second term in 2022. With Jacobs now term-limited, voters in 2026 will cast their ballots for a new county mayor in addition to high-profile races for the governor’s office and congress.
Jacobs addressed questions on if he would mount his own gubernatorial run earlier this year. In a January appearance on the 6 News political show Tennessee This Week, Jacobs said he would not run for governor and endorse Blackburn if she opted to enter the race. He officially endorsed her on Wednesday shortly after her announcement.

“Since the moment I found out Marsha was considering running, I have backed her 100%. Tennessee’s thriving economy and business environment are in large part due to Marsha’s leadership in fighting the proposed state income tax in the early 2000s,” Jacobs said in a statement to 6 News. “She is exactly who Tennessee needs in the driver’s seat, and I’m honored to be her campaign treasurer. I will do whatever it takes to ensure she is elected.”…
