AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Amarillo Police Department’s Motorcycle Division has introduced seven new BMW 1250 RT-P motorcycles to its fleet, replacing the current Police Harley Road King models, which will be discontinued next year.
Sergeant Trent Thomas of the Amarillo Police Department Motors Unit said, “Overall, I mean, if you look at the difference between both of them, the BMW is lighter, it’s quicker, it stops, you know, sooner. When it comes to what we do in patrol, it’s going to be a safer machine. So when it comes to the officers, you know, operated on the roadway, it’ll keep us safe. It’ll keep the public safe.”
