Man convicted of killing civil rights activist in Baton Rouge gets life sentence

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man who was found guilty of the murder of Baton Rouge civil rights activist Sadie Roberts-Joseph was sentenced to life at hard labor without the possibility of parole Thursday.

Ronn Bell, 44, and his attorney attempted to argue motions for a new trial and a post-conviction verdict of acquittal in court Thursday. The judge denied both motions.
