Man arrested in City Fire incident back in jail after skipping court date

A resident of The Villages arrested earlier this year after an incident at City Fire is back in jail for skipping a court cate.

Matthew Seybuck, 43, of the Village of Buttonwood. was booked Wednesday at the Sumter County Detention Center on a warrant charging him with failure to appear. He was being held without bond.

He was originally arrested in February after 911 calls were placed from City Fire at Lake Sumter Landing. Patrons at the establishment reported that Seybuck had been behaving in a suspicious manner, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. It was feared he might have a concealed firearm. A pedestrian near City Fire told deputies that Seybuck “approached her aggressively and appeared visibly angry.”

When a deputy approached Seybuck, he put his hands in his pockets and the deputy took action out of concern that Seybuck might have a concealed weapon. The deputy attempted to detain Seybuck, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds. Seybuck made an “aggressive maneuver” and tried to pull away from the deputy.
