Man admits he knew about suspended license during traffic stop in Wildwood

A Coleman man was arrested for driving with a suspended license despite knowing it had been invalid for about two years.

A deputy observed 73-year-old Jamie Lee Lucas in a black 2007 Chrysler 300 with an obscured tag at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle’s tag lamp was hanging down in front of the tag, making it unreadable.

The deputy subsequently stopped the vehicle at East Gulf Atlantic Highway and Legion Avenue near Parkwood in Wildwood. He explained the reason for the stop and asked for Lucas’s license, registration and proof of insurance. Lucas advised that he did not have a driver’s license, the report said.

He knew his license was not valid and had not been for about two years. He had also been arrested for driving without a license in the past, the report said…
