Community supports 10-year-old after brain surgery with corn fundraiser

HEREFORD, Texas (KVII) — A 10-year-old girl from Deaf Smith County remains hospitalized in Lubbock following surgery to remove a tumor.

On Thursday, the father (Brent Schoenenberger) of Delilah Schoenenberger, along with additional ag producers and farmers from Deaf Smith County and members of the Knights of Columbus in Hereford, came together to pitch in to volunteer to pick sweet corn. The sweet corn will be sold $10 a dozen as a fundraiser to help the family with medical expenses.

“Took her to the emergency room and did some tests and they did a CAT Scan and found out she had a brain tumor, so they rushed her to Lubbock, and we got in with a doctor at Covenant Health down there and he’s a real good neurosurgeon down there,” said Brent Schoenenberger, father of Delilah…
