Carbon monoxide problem prompts late night evacuation on Madison’s south side

MADISON, Wis. — An apartment complex on Madison’s south side experienced a carbon monoxide alarm late Wednesday night.

The Madison Fire Department arrived at the 2800 block of Ashford Lane at around 11:43 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that the alarm was sounding from the basement.

Firefighters entered the basement equipped with an air monitor, detecting initial carbon monoxide readings of 40-50 parts per million. The highest readings were found in a room containing a water heater…
