An alleged robbery in St. Louis’ Amberg Park took a violent turn Tuesday evening, resulting in an exchange of gunfire that left three individuals injured. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) reported the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. near Gustine Ave, as cited by KSDK.
Following a robbery whereby two suspects allegedly took his backpack at gunpoint, the victim, a man in his 30s, pulled out his own firearm and engaged in a shootout with the culprits. “He believed he hit one or both of them, as he heard them shout they had been shot while fleeing the scene,” SLMPD authorities shared. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, but was listed in “stable” condition after being hospitalized, according to KSDK.
Meanwhile, the two men suspected of the initial robbery were found to have gunshot wounds upon their arrival at a local hospital. Police linked them to the crime committed at Amberg Park and placed both suspects in custody, despite them receiving medical treatment for their injuries, as noted by First Alert 4.
