Suspect Charged in Attempted Carjacking on Minnesota Avenue in Northeast D.C.

The streets of Northeast D.C. saw an attempted carjacking thwarted by the Metropolitan Police Department in late May, and now, a suspect has been apprehended in connection with the crime. The attempted carjacking took place on the 4000 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast around 9:51 p.m. on May 22, where a suspect reportedly tried to seize a vehicle before fleeing the area, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department.

According to a release from Metropolitan Police Department, an arrest was made on August 6th, following the issuance of a D.C Superior Court arrest warrant. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Mark Edwards from Southeast, D.C., has been charged with Unarmed Carjacking. It’s a small victory for residents who have seen their share of vehicle-related crimes.

Metropolitan Police Department have made it clear that they encourage anyone with information related to this incident, or any other violent crime within the District, to come forward. Incentives are in place; the department offers a reward of up to $1,000 for details leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for such offenses…
