Leicester firefighter receives new home 10 months after Helene

LEICESTER, N.C. (WLOS) — Ten months after Hurricane Helene destroyed their home, Leicester firefighter Zach Cicillian and his family finally have a permanent place to live again thanks to a nonprofit and a surprise act of generosity.

On Friday morning, God’s Pit Crew, a Virginia-based disaster relief group, handed the Cicillian family the keys to a brand-new, four-bedroom, two-bath home. Volunteers built the house in just two weeks and filled it with furniture and personal touches for Zach, his wife Amber, and their three sons.

“When we’d say, ‘let’s go home,’ our toddler would ask, ‘which house?’” Cicillian said. “But today, we tell him we’re going home, and he knows where that’s at.”…
