Crime-ridden Colonial Village Apartments receives major renovations under new ownership

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A troubled property on the east side of Columbus is undergoing a major transformation and will soon be open to tenants.

Once known for rampant crime and gun violence, drug use, infestations, and building code violations, the former Colonial Village Apartments are being reinvented as “The Rand.” About 50 units are now move-in ready and available to tenants starting in September.

The property was long considered a public nuisance, with thousands of 911 calls every year. CPD Community Liaison Wendell Tolber spoke with ABC 6 on Friday about the endless concerns linked to the apartments.
