Another Popular Woodland Mall Store Is Closing Thanks To Bankruptcy

Another familiar mall staple is shutting its doors for good as bankruptcy continues to claim popular retail brands across the U.S.

Known for its glittery accessories and ear-piercing stations, the parent company behind Claire’s and Icing has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, for the second time in just seven years. The latest filing, made in Delaware, comes because of declining mall traffic and changing consumer shopping habits, especially among younger generations who once flocked to these trendy stores.

As part of the bankruptcy process, the company plans to close at least 18 stores nationwide, including one location right here in West Michigan.

The Icing location at Woodland Mall is expected to close by September. It’s the only Michigan store on the list…
