MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A downed power line burned in the middle of a major street in Mobile Thursday, causing power outages to nearby homes and businesses.

News 5 was on the scene as a live wire, broken and on the ground, crackled and sparked near the intersection of Old Shell Road and Mobile Street.
Employees at Old Shell Animal Hospital said they were concerned about the outage because they had 20 animals they were caring for inside the clinic.
Mobile Fire Rescue responded and closed the parking lot and one lane of the road until power crews could arrive…
