Horry County solicitor looks to keep multimillion-dollar check scheme suspects behind bars

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Authorities are still working to contact more than 800 victims tied to a multimillion-dollar stolen check scheme that led to the arrests of two men in July.

Myrtle Beach police arrested Devonte Dawkins and Willie Perry last month after intercepting the stolen checks, both suspects remain in custody.

Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson, speaking publicly about the case for the first time, called it one of the largest stolen check investigations he’s seen in Horry County.

“Because of how many checks were involved, we are going to be able to make a case against this and for prison time,” Richardson said…
