US Secretary of Education set for Arkansas visit during start of national tour

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Officials with the U.S. Department of Education said Secretary of Education Linda McMahon will visit Arkansas the week of Aug. 11 as part of a national tour.

Officials said the Arkansas visit is part of the department’s Returning Education to the States tour. The tour plans for state-by-state stops for McMahon to hear from students, teachers and school leaders about education models and reforms.

Louisiana and Tennessee are also on the secretary’s schedule for the week of Aug. 11.

“President Trump entrusted me with a vital mission to return education to the states, and part of that is learning best practices from each state,” McMahon said. “As students head back to school, I will travel across our great nation to visit classrooms, listen to voices on the ground, and spotlight the incredible work happening at the local level.”…
