Beaverton Fugitive Alberto Gamboa-Mendez Indicted on Multiple Charges Following K9-Assisted Capture

In the early hours of a recent Monday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies gave chase to a silver Subaru driven by 28-year-old Alberto Gamboa-Mendez, a man well-known to them for his outstanding warrants. The pursuit, which unfolded in Beaverton, saw Gamboa-Mendez leading deputies on a short chase before crashing his vehicle and further attempting elusion on foot. According to an official Sheriff’s Office release, the containment of the area was quickly followed by the arrival of Corporal Terry and K9 Griff, the latter being instrumental in apprehending Gamboa-Mendez.

The incident reached a conclusion with the help of K9 Griff, who sniffed the wanted man out, who was hiding beneath a parked car. A swift takedown then ensued, leading to the transport of Gamboa-Mendez to the Washington County Jail, where he was booked for his prior warrants, and the additional charges were soon to follow.

As of August 5, 2025, a grand jury has added weight to Gamboa-Mendez’s legal woes, indicting him on multiple charges. These include aggravated identity theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, attempting to elude, and giving false information to a peace officer.
