Slate Belt Butchery, operating in conjunction with Carey & Schnalzer Quality Meats at 7291 Autumn Road in Lynn Township, won two grand champion titles at this year’s Pennsylvania Association of Meat Processors product competition at Penn State, co-owner Scott Carey said.
“It feels really good when you work really hard all the time and then you’re making products and you’re selling to customers, and you’re getting feedback from customers,” he said. “But it’s especially nice when you actually could put it up to a panel of your peers, people that are also in the industry. The judging of it is from established meat processors, people that have been in the industry many years.”…
