Albemarle and Charlottesville recognize Soul of Cville with proclamations

Five years ago, a coalition held a festival at the Ix Park in Charlottesville to celebrate the role of Black culture in the city and the region. This Sunday will see the fifth anniversary as recognized this week by both the Albemarle Board of Supervisors and the Charlottesville City Council.

“Soul of Cville in its milestone 5th year will bring together residents and visitors alike to enjoy a diverse array of performances, food, award recognition, economic development opportunities, the Best in Black Cville award ceremony, scholarship giveaway and activities that showcase the soul of our city,” said Charlottesville Mayor Juandiego Wade at the August 4 Council meeting, reading from a proclamation.
