6 hospitalized, 1 arrested after buggy crash near Bloomingdale

BLOOMINGDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Six people were hospitalized, five of them with serious or critical injuries, after an SUV hit an Amish buggy just west of the village of Bloomingdale Friday evening, deputies say.

It happened around 7:45 p.m. on County Road 388 between 45th and 46th streets in Bloomingdale Township. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said the westbound buggy was hit from behind by the SUV.

There were six people in the buggy, five of whom had “obvious injuries,” the sheriff’s office said. Deputies started lifesaving measures on the person who was most seriously hurt. All six people were taken to the hospital, four of them with serious injuries and one with critical injuries, deputies say…
