Stolen Nintendo Switch Leads To Arrest Of Repeat Offender In Lakeland

A Lakeland man with a lengthy criminal history is back in jail after a theft victim spotted his stolen game system for sale online.

LAKELAND, Fla. – A theft investigation in Lakeland quickly escalated, leading to the arrest of a man with a long history of criminal offenses, after the victim found his stolen property for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

On August 4, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) began investigating a theft that occurred near Brunnell Parkway and Memorial Boulevard. Among the items stolen was a Nintendo Switch game system. The victim later noticed a Nintendo Switch matching his own for sale on Facebook Marketplace and contacted a PCSO detective.

The detective reached out to the seller, who confirmed the game system was, in fact, the one reported stolen. The seller stated he had recently purchased the item from an individual he only knew by a nickname. The investigation continued, and detectives were able to identify the suspect as 58-year-old Clarence Clinton McRay of Lakeland…
