Austin Mourns the Loss of Motorcyclist in 58th Fatal Crash of the Year on Cameron Road

On a late Saturday night, the streets of Austin were the scene of a tragic accident. The Austin Police Department reported responding to a single motorcycle crash on the 9200 block of Cameron Road, a site now marked by the echoes of emergency sirens and the silent weight of loss. The motorcyclist, identified as Terrance E. English, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, according to a news release from the City of Austin’s official website.

The incident, which occurred around 11:55 p.m. on August 2, has been designated as Austin’s 58th fatal crash of the year, adding to a rising toll that stands at 62 fatalities. This time last year, the count was a somewhat lower 48 fatal crashes that resulted in 51 deaths. This year’s numbers serve as a grim reminder of the ever-present dangers that lurk on the roads, during the day, or at the deceptive calm of night.

While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit encourages anyone with information to come forward. In a community effort to piece together the moments leading to such tragedies, tipsters may contact the unit directly at 512-974-8111 or opt for anonymity through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting their website or calling 512-472-8477…
