MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Attorneys for the sidelined Prichard Water Works & Sewer Board asked a judge this week to force the court-appointed expert in charge of the troubled utility to move off his proposed solution to the system’s woes.
It has been a year since the receiver, John S. Young Jr., identified a merger with the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System as the only viable solution for the troubled utility. MAWSS has yet to publicly commit to the idea.
“Obviously, MAWSS is not interested in this ‘solution,’” wrote attorney Mark Parnell, who represents the water board that now has no authority over the system. “MAWSS and Young have had plenty of time to determine whether the MAWSS Solution is viable. It is time to move on.”…
