ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Sunday will see a good deal of sunshine with only a few passing clouds. High temperatures will be a touch warmer as they climb into the upper 70s to lower 80s. It will be a great day to go outdoors! The UV index will be high though, so use the sunscreen.
As the wedge of high pressure to our northeast weakens and exits, more southerly flow will enter the picture which brings back higher moisture as humidity rises. This will also help support daily rain and storm chances beginning Monday.
Storm coverage will likely be more isolated to begin the week before becoming more scattered each day later in the week as a front approaches from the north.
Temperatures will also be warming each day feeling more like summer again to near 90 degrees by mid-week.
Tracking the Tropics: Invest 96L continues to show disorganized showers and storms over the central tropical Atlantic. Dry air around will inhibit any development over the next few days; although, some slow development is possible later next week with a low chance as it tracks to the north over open waters.
Invest 97L is a tropical wave that is moving off of the coast of Africa with a medium chance (60%) of development over the next week. Environmental conditions look favorable for a tropical depression to form by the mid-to-late portion of next week as the system tracks to the west.
