BRUSLY, La. (WAFB) – Jason Gill started the Caroline Grace Gill Foundation and annual softball tournament in honor of his daughter, who was killed in a police pursuit in 2022, along with Maggie Dunn. The two teenagers were driving through a green light when an Addis police officer hit them. Caroline and Maggie’s Story touched hearts across the nation, and the softball tournament gives the community a chance to get involved. The second annual tournament was held on August 9 and had a great turnout.
“Great support, great turnout, for a good cause,” Gill says. “The last two years have been really tough, but to me it’s all for a greater cause, right? So if I can make a positive out of such a negative, I think that you know, then I did my part for society.”
The tournament brought in 20 teams, which Gill says equates to at least 200 players. Then there were people there to watch, eat, drink, listen to live music, and just support the foundation. One woman, Amanda Castelle, says she and her family came out to watch her husband’s recreational team play…
