ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – St. Louis City Comptroller Donna Baringer is requesting that the Civil Service Commissioner investigate her predecessor’s insurance of payroll checks.
In a letter to the commission, Baringer wrote that her office had conducted a preliminary review of information and communications regarding former Comptroller Darlene Green’s payroll disbursements.
“Ms. Green is my predecessor as Comptroller, and in today’s hyper-political environment, any further actions by my office in this matter – no matter how justified and appropriate – will be open to attack,” wrote Baringer. “Such attack could easily obfuscate the work of my office to appropriately review this matter and provide clarity around the actions taken by those who are part of the communications my office has reviewed.”…
