Boise announces finalists for parks and rec director, fire chief

BOISE — After previously announcing the coming retirement of Boise Fire Chief Mark Niemeyer and Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway, the city has reported announced Friday that the search for replacements for both positions has been narrowed down to several finalists.

The finalist selection followed an internal review of 40 qualified candidates who applied for fire chief and 33 qualified candidates who applied for the director of Parks & Recreation. After initial interviews with several of the candidates for both positions, two applicants have been selected as finalists for the Boise Parks & Recreation department and four applicants have been selected as finalists for the fire chief position.

Each finalist has been invited to participate in a series of panel interviews with internal stakeholders, local agency partners and community members in September, a release from the city said.
