Columbus Authorities Shut Down Notorious South Side Drug House in Collaborative Effort

The efforts to shut down a notorious drug house on the south side of Columbus have finally come to fruition, thanks to the collaborative work of the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, the Columbus City Attorney’s Office, and local law enforcement. As reported, a lawsuit was filed on August 5 to declare the property at 669 East Mithoff Street a public nuisance, following a thorough investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office that confirmed its use for drug trafficking and possession.

Since the beginning of 2023, the Columbus Police have responded to 29 calls for criminal activity at the location, ranging from reports of shots fired to domestic violence. Following dozens of complaints from neighbors about persistent drug activity, authorities have taken decisive action. “This drug house has been a magnet for crime and a threat for the people who call this neighborhood home,” Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Shayla Favor stated. She went on to describe nuisance abatement as a “strategy to shut down dangerous drug activity, protect public safety, and return peace to our communities.”

A narcotics search warrant was executed at the property on May 8, leading to the seizure of over 162 grams of narcotics, including cocaine and crystal meth. Not only were drugs discovered, but also a pill press, a 9mm handgun, and two containers of ammunition.
