Fourth Paws in the Pool attracts all kinds to Springbrook

It was a wet and wild Saturday morning at the Springbrook Pool in Alcoa as pooches big and small took turns leaping, bounding or, in some cases, gently tiptoeing into the cool water at the Fourth Paws in the Pool.

“We had probably 100 people pre-registered, but not all of those folks showed up and some showed up day of to register,” said Kelly Forster, superintendent of recreation. “I couldn’t tell you how many people we had, but animals registered was probably around 200.”

Hosted by the joint Blount County-Alcoa-Maryville Parks and Recreation department, Paws in the Pool offers a moment towards the end of the summer months for the county’s four-legged friends to enjoy one of the department’s most-beloved features: the Springbrook Pool…
