I play golf at least three times a week.
I visited The Villages back in 2012 to visit a friend living here for a long time and had a great time. The courses were in great shape and that’s when I decided to move here. What happened to these courses in the last three years is disgusting.
On some courses the greens are burnt, badly cut with ridges or not cut at all. They replaced some of the grass around some tee boxes or where the grass died. It looked real nice, but I went back nine days later and it was all dried out or dead because of lack of watering. And we all know that’s a big problem! They reopened Chula Vista after a couple million dollar fix and it was great. After six months our group played there last month and it was terrible. How can you putt on that crap? Some tee boxes were dried out. I went and played on a course south of County Road 466 and I talked to the starter and he told me, “If you don’t like it, go somewhere else.” Well, I vented enough, but I do believe nothing will happen. Sure they get a lot play when the snowbirds come back, but to me that’s when you need to step up and do a little more WATERING!…
