N.Y. Weather: Heat advisory likely as temperatures soar into 90s this week

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— Staten Island residents should prepare for a scorching week with temperatures potentially reaching the low 90s and heat indices approaching 95 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. An air quality alert is in effect from 11 a.m. Sunday to 11 p.m., warning of potentially unhealthy atmospheric conditions.

The National Weather Service forecasts a heat wave building through Wednesday, with temperatures climbing steadily. Sunday will see highs in the middle to upper 80s, potentially touching 90 degrees in some areas. Monday and Tuesday will continue the warming trend, with daytime temperatures expected to reach the upper 80s and low 90s. Humidity levels will gradually increase, creating uncomfortable heat indices that could approach 95 degrees in urban areas.
