A photo of Queen Elizabeth II, a Tibetan carpet and centuries-old European antiques from the late California Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s Billionaires’ Row mansion are hitting the auction block. The collection of almost 200 items from her estate offers a rare glimpse into the personal world of the trailblazing politician.
Among the items up for auction from Feinstein’s mansion at 2460 Lyon St. in San Francisco (search for “Senator” or “Feinstein” in the larger catalog) are a German carved chest circa 1740 (valued from $800 to $1,200), a Louis XV-style writing desk (valued from $500 to $700), Chinoiserie-style furniture, silverware, barware, stemware and serveware. There is also fine art, including landscapes, still lifes and architectural views of the city.
The items, in total, are valued at close to six figures, according to Deric Torres, senior vice president of Clars Auctions, an East Bay-based auction house chosen by managers of Feinstein’s estate to hold the sale.
