Illinois–Iowa Border Storms: Severe Weather Risk With Strong Winds 6AM Until 3PM Today

Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois – Damaging winds and torrential rainfall could hit communities along the Illinois–Iowa border this morning into early afternoon, with the most intense storms possible between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, the region faces a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for severe storms, with primary hazards including wind gusts strong enough to down trees and power lines, as well as rainfall capable of flooding roads, fields, and basements. Areas from Cedar Rapids to Galesburg, including the Quad Cities metro, are in the impact zone.

Motorists are urged to avoid driving through flooded streets, and residents should secure outdoor items that could be blown around. Creek and stream levels may rise quickly during downpours, increasing the risk of flash flooding in low-lying areas…
