(Valley) — Severe storms gave KMAland residents a rude awakening early Sunday morning.
A cluster of storm activity roared through southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa, dumping heavy rainfall and high winds clocked between 60-to-75 mph. Chris Franks is meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Valley, Nebraska office. Franks tell KMA News storms started to gather steam shortly after midnight.
“About midnight, we actually had a pretty healthy line in south central Nebraska,” said Franks. “This would be south of Hastings, kind of near the Nebraska-Kansas border that gathered steam, moved to the northeast, and really kind of carved a path of heavy rain and strong winds across southeast Nebraska into southwest Iowa.”…
