Storm Track 3 Forecast: Strong storms bring threat of wind and flooding Sunday
Overnight storms in western and northern Kansas have left some remnants across southern and eastern portions of the area. Rainy rumbles will be possible through the late morning.
A cold front remains draped across Kansas and will divide milder temperatures to the west and north from warmer, more humid air south and east. Expecting to reach the 90s again in south-central Kansas, with 80s and even a few 70s farther north and west.
Kay County remains under a Heat Advisory through 8 PM.
Mostly dry and breaking out some sunshine through the afternoon, this will give us time to recharge the atmosphere ahead of another round of storms that will develop in the evening.
Storms increase in coverage into the night, favoring areas south of I-70.
Storms will have severe potential, carrying the risk of damaging wind gusts and large hail.
Rainfall will also be locally heavy. Some places may see over 2″ of rain in a short period of time, which may lead to some isolated instances of flash flooding.
A Flood Watch covers portions of central and eastern Kansas through Monday morning.
Temperatures cool overnight as storms push the front south into Oklahoma.
Monday will feel refreshing, with temperatures dropping below average. Highs in the 80s expected.
More storms will be possible across the area Monday afternoon, but the bulk of the activity will shift more to the south.
A few spotty storms will hang on through Tuesday before we hit a drier pattern again. Later this week, we head back beneath the heat dome. Rising temperatures and little hope of rain through next weekend.
