ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) — A new mural in downtown Albuquerque is capturing the eyes of residents. This artwork was created by Jesse Littlebird and Thomas Christopher Haag.

It’s a combination of the Native American buffalo through time, and different portals of our landscape. “The buffalo is the animal that when a storm comes, instead of running for shelter or turning away from the storm,” said Muralist Thomas Hagg. “A buffalo will face it. They all face it together and head into the storm, because they know that walking through the storm will get them out of it faster. So that’s a really nice metaphor for these times.”
People can see the artwork at El Rrey Theater. It’s part of the city’s centennial celebration of Route 66. As of now, there are about 23 pieces of art along the route…
